This past Tuesday evening (February 10, 2009), a team of 10 CMPD officers canvassed the Providence Arbours, Sarah Hall and South Hall neighborhoods.
Their mission?
To warn potential crime victims (i.e. residents with open garage doors and those with valuables left in plain view in vehicles parked outside).
The officers left warning notes and/or knocked on doors to alert residents that they were inviting crime into the neighborhood and onto their property.
Officer James Russell (CMPD’s South Division RA3 Community Coordinator) reports that the officers distributed 20 warning sheets and knocked on the doors of several homes in the neighborhood.
Criminals seeking easy access to valuables have made it a practice to visit Providence Arbours (and surrounding neighborhoods) every 6 to 8 weeks.
Please do your part to keep our neighborhood safe (and to protect your valuables) by keeping your garage doors closed and by removing all valuables from vehicles parked outside.
