The following alert is courtesy of the Berkeley Homeowners Association. Note: The Candlewyck neighborhood is located off Providence Road north of the Arboretum in south Charlotte.
Around noon on February 4th, a 12 year old girl in the Candlewyck neighborhood was walking down Lawton Bluff to her friend’s house when a green conversion van pulled up beside her and asked where she was going and offered to give her a ride. She said no and the van went past her, turned around, and came back and asked her again. She refused again and the van left the neighborhood. When she got to the friend’s house they called 911 and police responded very quickly. No less than 8 police vehicles searched the area but found nothing. The police are asking if anyone spots a vehicle matching this description, please call 911. Inside the vehicle were 3 Hispanic young men (20ish not teens).
