Disease Hits Some Hardwoods in Providence Arbours

Oak Tree DiseaseTake a close look at many of the oak trees in Providence Arbours (and some other varieties of hardwood shade trees around the community) and you’ll see dead areas or blotches on the leaves.  A quick search on the web suggests that some our trees in Providence Arbours are afflicted with anthracnose.

What is anthracnose?

Anthracnose is caused by a number of different but closely related fungi.  Web research indicates that despite how serious the disease appears to the human eye, in most cases damage caused by anthracnose is minimal and doesn’t seriously harm established shade trees.

Please comment if you have trees on your property that appear to have this disease and/or you have additional info to share on this subject.
