CMPD Reports 2 Types of Crime on the Increase in Our Area

Sergeant Bob Cooke, Commander for CMPD South Division: Response Area 3, released today Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department On The Beat Response Area Newsletter containing crime statistics for the month of January 2010  compared to the same month last year.  The statistics show a reduction in crime in almost all categories except for Residential Burglary and Larceny from Auto which had a slight increase.  “Residential burglary suspects typically commit this crime during the day while residents are at work.  Larceny from Auto suspects, however, usually break into vehicles at night and early morning.”

The newsletter goes on to state that no area of Charlotte is immune from Larceny from Auto, and “… in order to protect yourself from becoming a victim you need to remove all of your valuables from your car and remember to lock the doors.”
